Have you received your new MEA membership card?

Membership Cards are IN THE MAIL!

Some of you may have already received your new membership card. It should have arrived in an MEA envelope with a “window” in the envelope where your name and mailing address is. Don't throw this envelope away without opening it to get your membership card!
"The membership card is very similar to a credit card – much thicker and somewhat smaller in size than the old ones. In cooperation with NEA Member Benefits, members may use their 2010-2011 membership card to save on your favorite brands by going to the NEA “Click & Save” logo on the NEA Member Benefits website. Members can access the NEA Member Benefits website by going to the MEA website at http://www.maine.nea.org/ and then go to neamb.com to start saving!"

Interesting stuff from the Sept. 30, 2010, SPTA RA meeting

Hello, members.  I apologize for not having updated the blog recently, but it doesn't seem that anyone is reading it!  So, I'll send an email to members with the link.
Here are some issues we discussed at yesterday's RA meeting that I think may be of general interest.
  1. MEABT's SmartPath Wellness program will pay you up to $150 in cash (yes, cash) incentives for wellness activities.  You can create your own PATH account at https://secure.tomypath.com/meabt
  2. Your reps voted to support, as an Association, the South Portland Service Employees Association's efforts to prevent the outsourcing of custodial jobs in our district.
  3. Copies of our (relatively) new collective bargaining agreement (aka contract) were distributed to officers and reps.  I will email a copy to members and put a link in this blog to it as soon as I get a PDF version.
Please contact your building rep(s) if you have issues you'd like brought up at the next meeting, Thursday, October 23.
Thanks.  Margaret Esten
